Dara Bunga Satangkai and Endu Eni are sisters. They are the main characters in this folklore tales. Both of them are very skill full and beautiful than Kumang and Lulong, girl from GelongBatu Village. Kumang and Lulong are known as an Ideal woman in Iban folklore tales.

EnduBungaEni is married to Laja and DaraBungaSatangkai is married to Kelling. Both of the man is from PanggauLibau village. Their marriage is not surprising Kumang and Lulong but also the villager at PanggauLibau and GelongBatuBenang village.

For Kumang and Lulong, DaraBungaSatangkai and EnduBungaEni had seized their lovers, lowering their status as a pretty and most beautiful girl. In addition they also had destroyed their future. Therefore Kumang and Lulong tried to eliminate them.

Task 9-Academic Reading

“Lie Detector”

A new form of lie detector that works by voice analysis and which can be used without a subject’s knowledge has been introduced in Britain. It’s already widely employee by the police and private industry in the US and at least 600 of the devices are used. The normally understood voice generation mechanism- vibrations of voice chord and resonance of cavities inside the head. Dektor emphasizes that the device shows only stress, not dishonesty. Three steps are suggested to overcome this difficulty. First, the subject is supposed to see. Second, there are ‘neutral’ questions and one to which the subject is specifically asked to lie. Third, if an individual shows stress on a vital question then additional questions must be asked to ensure that this does not reflect an earlier theft or the subject’s knowledge of someone else responsible. In the US, the device is used for pre-employment interviews and it’s not foolproof but depends on the skill of the investigator, who receives only a one-week course from Dektor. Where lie detectors of all sorts are much more widely used, Senator Sam J. Ervin has introduced a bill to virtually prohibit their use by private companies. There may be a privacy bill from the UK government this summer, and hopefully it will include the use of lie detectors. In the interim, trade unions and consumer groups should prevent their use before they become widespread.

Task 8- Movie writing

The movie was about a man who got stranded because boarded the aircraft suffered damage by fierce storm.  Tom hanks are a system engineer for Federal Express the only survivor when the aircraft crashes into the Pacific Ocean where he finally land of a small tropical island. When he gets on the island, he tries to signal for rescue by write words help on the sand and explores the island and soon that it is uninhabited. He searches for food, water, shelter and get coconut that his first drink. Besides the island he fined the rock cave and he climbs the hills. When he was top of hill, he saw something near of the beach and he come running down to see what it is and soon he found a dead body of pilots floating near the beach. He took off the dead man’s shoes and flash light then buried him. Four years pass, Tom Hanks continue to survive day to day and he dramatically thinner, bearded, his hair is longer  and hearing a loincloth. He has become adept at spear fish and making fires. Besides, he also has regular conversation and argues meat with Wilson the volleyball that he recovers from the FedEx package.

After a large section from a portable toilet washes up on the island, Chuck uses it as a sail in the construction of a raft. After spending some time building and stocking the raft and deciding when the weather conditions will be optima he launches, using the sail to overcome the powerful surf. After some time on the ocean, a storm nearly tears his raft apart. The following day, "Wilson" falls from the raft and is lost, leaving Chuck overwhelmed by loneliness. Later, he is found drifting by a passing cargo ship. Upon returning to civilization, Chuck learns that he has long been given up for dead; his family and friends held a funeral, and Kelly has since married Chuck's dentist and has a daughter. After reuniting with Kelly, the pair professes their love for each other but, realizing a future together would be impossible due to her commitment to her family, they part. Kelly gives Chuck the keys to the car they once shared. Chuck then travels out into the country to return the unopened FedEx package to its sender. The house at the address is empty, so he leaves the package at the door with a note saying that the package saved his life. He then departs and stops at a remote crossroads. A woman passing by in a pickup truck stops to explain where each road leads. As she drives away, Chuck notices the illustration on her truck is similar to the one on the parcel. Chuck is left looking down each road. The camera focuses on his face as he looks toward the departing woman in the truck.

Task 7-Narrative paragraph Writing

UNFORGETTABLE CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

When I think back about my childhood, many vivid memories spring to my mind. Some are pleasurable while some are painful. The most vivid memory that I have is about when I was seven years old, this event happened at my school, that time the entire student must take the BCG injection. When I arrive at school in the morning, they are busy talk about it at first I not fear but when I think about the needle that they use I began fear. When I saw the nurse came into our classroom I’m suddenly cry and stomp the table by using pencil box and Our classmate was shock and I saw many student outside the classroom to see what was happen and that time I became a concern. My friend trying to calm me and she told that it’s not the doctor and its make me feel relief for a while. But when our teacher called us to the library I know that we will be injected. So that, during go to the library, I saw my friend try to escape but was bar of our teacher it make me feel worried and want to escape. During our teacher bar my friend; I get the chance to run. So I run from the school and near our school there a muddy pool. That time I taught when I jump into the pool them cannot inject me then I jumped into the pool and my body was full of muddy. So they take me home. When I reach at home, my mother was angry and told me to go bath. After that my mother sent me back to school and I don’t have any choice. After they persuade me then I take the injection. It’s so funny when I think back. But a repeat of these memories is definitely not welcome.

Task 6- Grammar

What are the common mistakes that you always do in writing?

The common mistake that I always do in writing is grammar mistake. When I start to write I’m worry about my spelling and still confuse about adjective, past tense and present tense in my writing.  Besides, I also difficult to put the correct sentence in my writing and give the supporting details of each main ideas. Writing in English actually not really difficult if we know how to arrange the proper sentence and able to elaborate each main point.  This is also the biggest problem that I face when I start to write. To overcome this problem, do a lot of practice on writing and read more English material to add our basic knowledge that help us to elaborate the ides and improve our English.

Pollution

Environmental pollution is the biggest menace to the human race on this planet today. It means adding impurity to environment. The environment consists of earth, water, air, plants and animals. If we pollute them, then the existence of man and nature will be hampered. It is true that trees are being cut down rapidly. Our earth is becoming warmer. If pollution continues, the day is not far when our earth will be a boiling pan and become a desert. Or it will be covered with sea water causing destruction of mankind. Pure air is always needed for inhaling. If we take pure air, our health improves. On the other hand impure air causes diseases and impairs our health and causes our death. Smoke pollutes the air. It is the root of air pollution. The smoke which is discharged from industries, automobiles and kitchens is the mixture of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane etc. These are all poisonous gases. These cause lung-cancer, tuberculosis etc. which take a heavy toll of life. The garbage emitting foul smell, the decaying plants and animals also cause air pollution. Besides, the harsh sounds of buses, its, mopeds etc, affect our power of hearing and causes fart trouble. The water of rivers and seas is being constantly polluted all over the world by various dangerous chemical and biological wastes. Mills and factories discharge very harmful waste waters into many rivers and sea. Reckless application of chemical fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides pollutes the soil. Vegetables and fruits are quite injurious today, because they contain the poison of insecticides and pesticides. If the air we breathe, the water we drink and the soil which produces our crops, vegetables and fruits, all become more and more impure, then our chances of good health and longevity will be very less and less. Environment pollution is a serious menace to our existence. Realizing the danger, we must plant trees in large number to absorb impure air. Impure water from industries can be sent back for purification and then it can be used for irrigation purpose.

Title: Trip to Maui

One time my family and I went to Maui. We went because it was spring and my dad was able to take some time off. My mom told me was we’re going to the airport and got on the plane. It was fun going on the plane because I’d never been on one before. Then we watched a movie on the plane it was “pirates of the Caribbean” then we land on Maui picked out our rental car and drove to our hotel. Our hotel was real price. It had a pool, nice beach and a life guard. We did lots of things on Maui. It has my first time going to the tropic, which I really love. We snorkeled and went to the beach everyday. Then we come home and the plane is delayed in Honolulu. I love Maui it was the best vacation ever of my life, it was great you should go.

Strong verb- what am I trying to do in this piece of writing? Convince? Entertain? Request something? Complain? Evaluate? Annoy?

Drafting

Drafting includes putting ideas into sentences in paragraphs, concentrating on ideas and supporting details. In this step, there is really no focus on things like spelling, grammar, etc. The main focus is just getting your ideas down on paper.

Revising

In revising,

•  Rearrange writing to clarify meaning
• Add descriptive words and details
• Take out words and sentences that do not belong and make change to improve the writing.

Editing

Editing is where things like grammar, spelling and mechanics are checked and refined.Re-reading is a key part of editing; make sure everything is exactly how you want it and all formatting is correct.

Publishing

This is the last process of writing.

• Read what you wrote aloud
• Prepare a final draft and write final copy
• Share writing with others

Task 1 - what is LOVE to you?

when we talk about love, everybody has their own opinion and definition about it. some person define love as a special connection between two person who no strings attached except the ones to the heart.

Love for me is a deep feeling that people cannot understand and something that is not easily to come out in perfect words.Besides i can define love as sacrifice. for instance parent; i do not  know how much their love me but through their sacrifice from i born until i grow older i knew them love me so much even them not tell me. moreover, love is about understanding, sharing and caring with other people.when we love somebody automatically it will make us care about each other and try to understand them in any situation.
it is clear that love is a feeling that people cannot define in perfect words.

In effort to complete my mission in writing journal, I have learned many things that help me to improve my English and increase my basis knowledge. During doing this task I got more information from reading article in internet and also learned much about grammar. In complete my journal I have a bit of difficult because in the same time, I need to complete another assignment and have no internet at home to log in my blog. Moreover attitude prefers to postponed make me done my work late.

 Pulau Tiga is situated north of Kuala Penyu, opposite the largely swampy Klias Peninsula, is a group of islands with coral reefs and sandy beaches. Pulau Tiga Park is a fascinating spot rarely visited by tourists. Pulau tiga comprises three small islands - Pulau Tiga, Pulau Kalampunian Besar and Pulau Kalampunian Damit (Snake Island). The island has been dubbed 'Survivor islands' from a television series which was filmed here in 1996. The park is named after the largest island, Pulau Tiga, whose name is derived from three undulating humps visible from a distance when approaching the island. The Park has particularly interesting flora and fauna and a rich marine life, with good diving and snorkelling over the reefs. The island has two resort, Pulau Tiga resort and Borneo survivor resort and has various kinds of accommodation like chalets, exhibition centre, soccer field and court game, and mini room for meeting, seminar or workshop and included a restaurant and camping site. There’s also famous for its therapeutic natural volcanic mud. To reach there is by way of a jetty at Kuala Penyu. While the trip by fast speed boat from the take off point to the island takes about 20 minutes, it takes about two hours to travel from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Penyu. We can stay there for 2 day1 night and 3 day 2 nights with differ price and experience.

TASK 7

Discuss one of these issues – violence, racism, corruption. How bad will it affect our country? What will you suggestion to overcome this issue?

One of the most critical issues facing the world today is racism. Racism can destroy us as individuals and ultimately destroy the world. Racism can change the quality of life that and lead to genocide and segregation. When people still practice racism, this can impact a bad economy to the country because each race is focused on the activities of their own race economy. As a result, the country hard to growth and develop. Moreover its will create a class distinction between societies and difficult to take a consensus among community. Racism also make people live in fear and constantly threatened because whenever riot will happen. Besides our association and movement will be limited. To overcome these issues, society can choose to acknowledge racism and not treat it as either a nonexistent or passing problem when it is far more serious than that. Furthermore educate the ignorant where much racism is rooted and society can come together to accept and respect other race.

Do you think we have been living in unity as 1 Malaysia? Express your opinion with specific example.

Concept 1 Malaysia has contributed by prime ministry Datuk seri Najib Tun Razak to strengthening relations and cooperation between citizen of different people in this country as main weapon for face may threats and challenges. This concept also has made Malaysia more peaceful, stable and developed in all fields and respected by the whole world. To live in unity as 1 Malaysia, all community must together in all aspect while difference nation and belief. Now we are in order to achieve concept 1 Malaysia. But these concepts difficult to achieve when still have racism attitude and ethnic base political. For instant like MCA the Chinese, MIC the India, and UMNO. This represent that we not totally live in unity 1 Malaysia. Besides, still have violence and corruption among community and it will make negative affect to our country. This cannot be us to living in unity as 1 Malaysia because 1 Malaysia emphasized the attitude of acceptance in among people of difference race and when a people accepted the uniqueness of the other, so that we may live together in peace mutual respect as citizen in one country.

When we talk about goal, everybody has goal. Goal is what we want be in future’s. I believe everybody want to achieve their goal and success in their life. To achieve the goal it’s must follow by the effort. In my life I want to be are success women and have my own business. To achieve my goal, I must believe in myself. Self confidence is the first step to progress, achievement and success. Believe in self will help solve challenge and difficulties in life and achieve amazing achievement in life if I believe I can. In order to achieve my goal is motivate myself and keep focus on what I want to achieve in my life. It is vitally important to achieve my goal. More over don’t be afraid to make mistake because mistake helps us to grow and make us to learn.

Base on the movie that you have watched in the class, retell the story in your way and if you were the main character, what would you do if you were experiencing the same situation?

The pursuit of happiness is about Christopher Gardner, a man who went through many trials and tribulation to be successful and achieve the American dream. In 1981,San Francisco,Christ invests his family's saving in portable bone density scanners which he tries to demonstrate and sell to doctors.But the investment proves to disambiguation,which financially break the family and as a result, his wife leaves him and moves to New York and he raising his 5 years old son alone without any real money. One day,when he trying to sell of his scanner, Christ meet a manager for Dean witter.with the new relationship with the Dean witter,he got chance to become an intern stockbroker and need to go through 6 month of training without any payment. concluding his internship,Christ is called into a meeting with his manager.He work has paid off and he is offered the position.what i learnt in this movie is do not give up to achieve you dream and do the best as possible.In this movie the" happyness" means when you has achieve your dream and what you want to be before.This movie also  gave me motivate and inspiration to never gave up in achieving my dream.

I love this song because this song has a story behind and give me sentimental value that i won't forget.This song dedicated to her lover who is also her fiance who had an accident during their wedding day close.As a result of the accident,his fiancee is having trouble to walking and communication.She just sat in a wheelchair and need support to do everything.Even everything was changed but his love never change and he keep his promise to always be beside her.

Everybody has their own idol and my idol is princess Diana.Diana was born in 1st July in 1961 as the third daughter of Edward John Spencer and his Wife Frences Nath Burke Roche.Diana grew up in a Very privileged family that had a long history of close ties with the royal family.She became lady Diana Spencer after her father inherited the title of early Spencer in 1975.In July,29, 1981 she married heir to the British throne Prince Charles and they had two son's and later divorced in 199 and continued to live at Kensington Palace until his died of injuries sustained in a car accident, in Paris, France. During her life as a princess, Diana was surrounded by riches but she carried out a belief that "everyone needs to be loved and understood compassionately.Diana endeared herself to the public through her warmth and caring.As the wife of Prince Charles, Diana not only gave birth to the future British king, she became a princes of the people.Diana brought attention to worthy causes such as the elimination of AIDS and landmines. Also, through her own experiences, Diana became a role model for those who suffer from depression or bulimia.Princess Diana have a very beautiful face and nice personality.Besides she also very concern for the suffering of people and active in charity work.The 79 of Diana evening gowns was auctioned by Christie's in New York and proceeds of about $3.5 million went to cancer and AIDS charities.

Identify your problem & difficulties in speaking English and explain on hoe are you going to improve your English proficiency.

English subject is very difficult to me because its not my favorites subject from primary school and not my mother tongue.After class i am not practice the language outside and do not doing my own exercises.I am also lake of interest to reading English material book and shy to speak English because i am afraid to make mistake.However, i am must learn English because English language is international language and very important to develop future career beside communicate with foreign people.The first thing i do, i am push my self to interest with the English subject and learns how to pronoun,how to spell and understand the meaning.But its not enough to improve my English.The second thing that i can do is listen English song and English movie,From that i found new words that i do not understand and try to search the meaning from dictionary or Google translate.It'll make me understand and remember the words forever.Beside that I'm try to speak with my friend even using broken English to practice and one thing that i can learn don't be shy to do mistake because from that we will learn.As our teacher said, do more practice as much as possible is the best way to improve our English proficiency beside read more English material.
